“Why choose faux arrangements?”

At Floral Glory UK we just love artificial floral arrangements, however it appeared most of my friends did not. That was until I showed them one of my arrangements. Admittedly, once upon a time artificial flowers really did look ‘artificial’. They were cheap and tacky; fading at the mere glimmer of the sun. Materials used were quick to fray and the colours used were limited, plain, boring and no-where near as appealing as their natural counterparts.

We have come a long way since then and the advancements in technology have made it possible to produce some pretty realistic looking stems. When strategically and lovingly placed, visually it can become hard to separate the real from the fake.

For our arrangements we tend to use flowers made from quality silk, foam, latex, velvet, paper and plastic. Silk and latex flowers tend to be the most realistic in appearance and some latex flowers even feel convincing to the touch. The main benefit of using faux flowers is the vast variety you get all year round. There are so many stems that you can blend which naturally you would not be able to do; simply because they typically bloom at differing parts of the year. Artificial flowers are ready for any and every season!

If you suffer from allergies like my daughter does, it can be difficult to find flowers that don’t cause some level of irritation. With artificial flowers, this will never be an issue. Additionally, they are extremely low maintenance so a gentle wipe every now and then will keep them looking as ‘fresh as a daisy’.

It is not always possible to get an abundance of natural light in your home or office. Some rooms have very little natural light if any at all, so faux flowers are a great solution. In fact keeping them out of direct sunlight is a good idea anyway. This will help them maintain their vibrant colours. Likewise, on cold winter evenings when all you want to do is crank up the heating, you don’t need to worry about it affecting your arrangements. Hot or cold, arrangements stand bold! Sadly this can not be said for fresh cut flowers.

There are so many reasons why artificial flowers are a good investment. Ok, so they have no real scent, but you can always try spritzing them with something fresh and aromatic… even your favourite perfume. I agree that at the end of the day, nothing is more natural looking, feeling or smelling than a natural floral arrangement and whilst I do love them just as much, it’s quite clear to me that they now have some serious competition in the artificial world.
